Special Issue Proposal

The JHSN welcomes proposals for Special Issues that address emerging, interdisciplinary, and high‑impact research topics within the journal's scope. Special Issues provide an opportunity to bring together leading scholars and practitioners to explore timely themes, stimulate academic dialogue, and advance knowledge in the humanities, social sciences, business, sustainability, and related disciplines.

Objectives

Special Issues are intended to:

  • Showcase cutting‑edge research on emerging topics.
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and international scholarship.
  • Address contemporary societal, economic, environmental, and technological challenges.
  • Encourage innovative theoretical, empirical, and policy‑oriented research.
  • Strengthen academic collaboration among researchers worldwide.

Proposal Requirements

Prospective Guest Editors should submit a proposal that includes:

  • Proposed Special Issue Title
  • Brief Rationale (300–500 words)
  • Aims and Scope
  • List of Key Topics
  • Expected Number of Articles
  • Proposed Timeline (Call for Papers, Submission Deadline, Review, Publication)
  • Guest Editor(s) Information, including affiliations, research expertise, ORCID iD (if available), and contact details.

Guest Editors are encouraged to demonstrate previous editorial or research experience relevant to the proposed topic.

Responsibilities of Guest Editors

Guest Editors are responsible for:

  • Developing the Call for Papers.
  • Promoting the Special Issue within the academic community.
  • Recommending qualified reviewers.
  • Assisting with the editorial management of submissions.
  • Ensuring timely communication with authors and reviewers.
  • Upholding the journal's editorial policies, publication ethics, and confidentiality requirements.

All editorial decisions remain subject to the approval of the Editor‑in‑Chief.

Peer Review

All manuscripts submitted to a Special Issue undergo the same double‑blind peer review process as regular submissions. Guest Editors do not make final publication decisions and must avoid handling manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist. The Editor‑in‑Chief or an assigned editor will oversee such submissions to ensure an impartial review process.

Selection Criteria

Special Issue proposals will be evaluated based on:

  • Relevance to the aims and scope of JHSN.
  • Originality and scholarly significance of the proposed topic.
  • Potential academic impact and international relevance.
  • Expertise and academic standing of the Guest Editor(s).
  • Feasibility of the proposed timeline and expected submissions.

Publication

Accepted articles will be published online immediately after completing the peer review and production process. Once all accepted articles have been published, they will be compiled into the designated Special Issue and permanently archived as part of the journal's official publication record.
