Data Availability Policy

The Journal of Human‑Social Nexus (JHSN) is committed to promoting research transparency, reproducibility, and scientific integrity. Authors are encouraged to make the data, materials, code, and other supporting resources underlying their research openly available whenever possible, while respecting ethical, legal, and privacy obligations.

Data Availability Statement

All submitted manuscripts should include a Data Availability Statement indicating where the data supporting the findings of the study can be accessed or explaining why the data cannot be publicly shared. This statement will be published alongside the article.

Examples include:

  • Publicly Available Data: "The datasets generated and/or analyzed during this study are available in [repository name] at [DOI or URL]."
  • Available Upon Request: "The data supporting the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request."
  • Restricted Data: "The data are not publicly available due to ethical, legal, confidentiality, or privacy restrictions."
  • No New Data: "No new data were generated or analyzed during this study."

Data Sharing

Authors are encouraged to deposit research data in trusted public repositories whenever appropriate. Suitable repositories may include institutional repositories or recognized discipline‑specific and general repositories such as Zenodo, Figshare, Dryad, Harvard Dataverse, Open Science Framework (OSF), or other reputable data archives.

Where available, authors should provide persistent identifiers (e.g., DOI) or stable URLs for deposited datasets.

Reproducibility

Authors should provide sufficient methodological detail, data, software, code, and supplementary materials to enable other researchers to verify, reproduce, and build upon the published findings where appropriate. Any restrictions on access to data or code should be clearly explained.

Ethical and Legal Considerations

Data sharing must comply with applicable ethical standards, institutional policies, legal requirements, and privacy regulations. Authors must ensure that confidential, proprietary, or personally identifiable information is adequately protected before sharing research data.

Where human participant data cannot be shared due to privacy or ethical constraints, authors should clearly state these restrictions in the Data Availability Statement.

Editorial Assessment

The Editorial Office and reviewers may assess the adequacy of the Data Availability Statement during the peer review process. Where necessary, authors may be asked to provide additional information or supporting documentation regarding the availability of the underlying research data.

Authors remain solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and accessibility of all shared data and materials. By submitting a manuscript to JHSN, authors confirm that the Data Availability Statement accurately reflects the status of the supporting data and complies with the journal's publication ethics and research integrity policies.
